Club History

Our motto is "Serving the Children of the World"

Kiwanis Club of Willowbrook-Burr Ridge was chartered April 27, 1976 with 29 members.  The Club has fluctuated over the years, but has current membership of 44. The main fund raiser is the Annual Peanut Days, but funds are raised through pancake breakfast, annual golf outing, raffles, and special sales. We help out in the respective two communities - shelter and handicapped ramp for local park, Little League scoreboard, Special Park equipment for children, special contributions to Kiwanis Twin Lakes Camp for handicapped children, and fulfilling special requests for needy families. The Club has worked closely for over 20 years with the Hinsdale South High School Key Club providing counsel, financial assistance and in making their annual December Food Drive a major success (collecting over 22,000 pounds for distribution for the three local food pantries). In addition, the Club provides up to $3500 annually in scholarships to graduating Key Club seniors. The membership represents diverse backgrounds - bankers, accountants, attorneys, doctors, dentists, supervisors, funeral directors, propretorships, educators, nurses, sales people, firemen, policemen, insurance, financial advisors, realtors, etc.
